Palm Sunday
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today our humble King riding His donkey asks permission to explore hoy inner Jerusalem.
Palm Sunday reflects the paradox of Christian life: exultation and sorrow woven together in a single mystery. The spiritual life is not a steady climb upward, but a journey with deep valleys, unexpected turns, and sacred plunges. Palm Sunday reveals this pattern in Jesus Himself and in us.
Hosanna! The joy of being celebrated: Jesus enters Jerusalem and is welcomed with palms, shouts, and enthusiasm. People finally “see” Him—or so they think. There is a deep human hunger to be recognized, affirmed, celebrated. Sometimes we are celebrated and acknowledged by others. Like Jesus, we should not shut our hearts to human love because they can be the providential sweet gestures of our Father. But neither should we cling to the human praise. Receive human love and affection without making it your identity.
Crucify Him! The pain of being misunderstood: Jesus didn't live from the momentum of approval. Chooses a donkey, not a war horse. Chooses meekness. Jesus moves from applause to rejection, from popularity to passion, from being the one who is praised to being the one who is handed over. So too in our lives we rise and fall. We are welcomed and then forgotten. We feel strong and then suddenly fragile. Receive them as gentle prunings of love from the hands of the Father.
Our Inner Jerusalem: The Lord enters today the inner Jerusalem of our souls. Within us is a crowd shouting “Hosanna!” and also the fear, confusion, and resistance that shout “Crucify Him!” And yet Jesus still enters. He rides lovingly into the complex landscape of our hearts
We do not need a perfect heart for Jesus to come.
Just an open one.
