Who We Are
Reinstated as the St. Agatha-St. James Parish Conference in March 2018, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) is a worldwide Christian community founded in Paris in 1833 and formed as a Catholic lay organization to serve those in need. As part of the Vincentian calling, no work of charity is foreign to the society. Society members are committed to offer any form of personal, spiritual, and/or financial help. These needs include everything from food, medicine, rent and utilities, to help in finding appropriate social services available in the community. We also provide a willing ear for spiritual support and prayer. Our outreach is confidential for those who ask for help. Personal information is only shared among conference members.
How are requests made and addressed?
SVDP members receive requests from fellow parishioners and community members with full consent from individuals and families inquiring about needs and services listed above. During weekly meetings, SVDP members evaluate requests for assistance and follow up with individuals through home visits to further assess needs to be met. If you or someone you know could benefit from our services, please contact us via phone or email (see below).
