Who Are We?

St. Agatha - St. James embraces the academic communities of Penn, Drexel, and the University of the Sciences.  It provides sacramental ministry and pastoral care to three major hospitals and medical centers, as well as several area nursing homes.  That is why this parish is often referred to as a "Parish of Institutions."  But in the midst of its institutional outreach, it is clear that the priests, staff and parishioners of St. Agatha - St. James have never forgotten that we are a parish of individuals.  We are undergraduates, graduates and faculty who offer our creativity and enthusiasm to the work of ministry and worship.  We are patients who, while needy of prayers ourselves, are praying in our need, in support of others.  We are doctors, nurses, and medical staff who emulate the healing of Jesus by our compassion and medical expertise.  We are the faithful, resident parishioners who live in University City and its environs.  We are a multidimensional, diversified community of individuals and institutions.

St. Agatha - St. James parish would not function without the participation and support of ALL who come to worship in our community.  Because there is no better way of coming to know and love your parish than through your own personal involvement, we hope you will choose to get involved.
