St. Agatha - St. James Church Building Renovation

    September 28, 2003

Many thanks to our contractor Ted Hooven (right) and on-site renovation supervisor Derek Shine (left)....

...For putting us back in church!

The communion rails at the side altars were re-installed, their carved grape and grape leaf design hinting at the makeshift "sacristy" at the St. Joseph altar in the background, where the communion vessels are temporarily being purified.

Meanwhile, the Stations of the Cross were cleaned and touched up to make the figures of Christ and the Cross more prominent. The cross was painted to resemble maple wood, commonly used during the First Century. Christ's halo was also gilded, as were the column capitals on the frames of the stations (to complement the newly gilded capitals in the church building).
